The Centre for Energy and Electric Power (CEEP) proudly celebrates not only a remarkable milestone but also a visionary leader whose dedication continues to inspire excellence. Prof. Abimbola Popoola is a professor in the Department of Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Tshwane University of Technology(TUT) in Pretoria, South Africa. She is globally recognized for her research in advanced engineering materials, corrosion engineering, surface engineering, laser materials processing, and materials development for industrial applications.
Prof has authored or co-authored hundreds of peer-reviewed publications, with thousands of citations, making her one of the most prominent researchers in her field. She has supervised numerous of our master’s and doctoral students and leads research initiatives in sustainable and advanced materials engineering at TUT.
Her exceptional leadership and commitment to research excellence have paved way to even greater milestones. She has recently been appointed as the holder of TUT’s 19th SARChI Research Chair in Renewable Energy which is supported by a R25 million investment.
This prestigious milestone is a testament to her outstanding leadership, devotion to research and commitment to advancing renewable energy innovation.
