Dr Moshood Alao also presented at the 2025 IEEE PES/IAS Power Africa Conference.

Centre for Energy and Electric Power (CEEP) had yet another proud moment at the 2025 IEEE PES/IAS Power Africa Conference as Dr Moshood presented a paper titled ”A two-way approach to optimal allocation of distributed generators and capacitor banks on power distribution networks under uncertain load demands” in Cairo, Egypt, – September 28 – October 2, 2025.

In his presentation, Dr. Alao pointed out that increased load demands are predicated on population increase, industrialization, urbanization etc., with attendant technical impacts on the power networks and economic consequences on the utilities and consumers, hence the need for network expansion.

Dr. Alao emphasized that network expansion could be achieved by extending the energy delivery capacity to the consumers via the allocation of distributed generator (DG) units and capacitor banks (CBs) at strategic locations on the distribution network.

He further stated that allocation of DGs and CBs must be done optimally using efficient optimization algorithm such as particle swarm optimization (PSO), otherwise, adverse technical effects including increased power loss, reverse power flow, overvoltage could ensue. Additionally, load variability and generation uncertainty should be incorporated while developing algorithms for the allocation of DGs and CBs on distribution networks
