Centre for Energy and Electric Power (CEEP) participates in the 2025 IEEE PES/IAS Power Africa Conference (PAC).

Held at Pyramisa Hotel, Cairo, Egypt, September 28 -October 2, 2025.

A Postdoc from the Centre for Energy and Electric Power (CEEP) at Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa, Dr Oluwaseun Tooki, joins other professional colleagues to participate in the 2025 IEEE PES/IAS Power Africa Conference (PAC) held between September 28 -October 2, 2025, at Pyramisa Hotel in Cairo, Egypt, where he delivered a presentation titled “Application of a Transactive Energy System Solution in Resolving Energy Deficit in Africa”.

The presented paper, which was co-authored by the Director of the Centre, Prof Olawale Popoola, offers a synopsis on the state of energy deficit in Africa, the environmental impact of non-renewable energy generation, valuable insights on how to apply the innovative technology of Transactive Energy Systems (TES) in addressing the energy deficit and concluded by presenting an analysis on how the availability of Distributed Energy Resources in three selected locations, within the continent, can support TES implementation in Africa.

Besides TES integration, their findings demonstrate that effective governance and regulatory structure are essential in boosting competition and private sector involvement in the African energy market.

Furthermore, Dr Tooki chaired two Technical Sessions at the Conference, where he provided leadership and created a smooth and engaging atmosphere for both presenters and the audience.
